Ken & Michele

I had the pleasure of coordinating a beautiful winter wedding on January 7!  The wedding was held at the Magnolia Ballroom in downtown Denver.  The ballroom used to be a bank, and has been turned in to a beautiful venue for weddings and events.

The bride was very fun to work with…she did a TON of work to prepare for the wedding.  The week before the wedding when I met with her she showed me her amazing programs–she had made them herself!!  They looked fantastic!

They bride and groom were married at Trinity United Methodist Church.  After their wedding a Rolls Royce picked them up and took them to Union Station for some photos.  I LOVE this one.  It began to snow between the ceremony and reception.  The snow makes this so magical!

Congratulations Ken and Michele!

Why Hire a Wedding Coordinator

Why hire a wedding coordinator?

This is the question I get asked the most as a wedding coordinator in a very competitive industry.  The answer that I usually give brides is: How much work do you want to do on your wedding day?

A wedding day is like a complicated coordinated dance.  You have in upwards of 20 different parties, all working with different goals in mind: the wedding party, parents, bride and groom, the guests, the catering venue, the florist and photographer and cake bakers.  Each of these parties has a specific goal in mind and a specific step in the dance. To coordinate each one of these separate parties to work towards one perfect day can result in a chaos.

On average, a wedding experiences in upwards of 30 hiccups during that special day.   Could a bride handle them? Absolutely. Should she? No.   Your special day should not be filled with endless mundane questions (“Where does this go? Where are the lanterns? Have you seen Cody? Did you iron your dress? The caterer is late, can you call him?”), but rather special moments (like your mom putting your veil on you) that will stay in your memory for a lifetime.

A wedding coordinator’s main purpose is to ease the life of the bride on her wedding day.  She works only for the bride, not the venue or vendors, and is the brides advocate and voice when dealing with the million tiny issues that arise on a wedding day.

A variety of complications can arise on your wedding day, including the following REAL issues that we have addressed and solved for our brides:

-         A drunken uncle who refused to leave the wedding and was bothering other guests.

-         Eye shadow spilled on the bridal gown minutes before the wedding.

-         The cake not arriving at the correct venue.

-          The parents of the bride getting lost on their way to the wedding.

-         A family conflict that needed to be talked out.

-         An overbooked bridal suite.

-         A limousine not arriving to pick up the bride and groom

-         Tables incorrectly placed at the venue for the reception and placecards placed at the wrong table.

-         No champagne for the champagne toast.

-         DJ playing offensive music.

-         The bride’s brother getting delayed at the airport.

-         Extra weddings guests showing up that did not RSVP

-         A Bride feeling faint before she walks down the aisle (stalling the ceremony)

-         Weather delays.

-         Incorrect directions to the reception venue

Each of these problems, had the bride dealt with them, would have taken away both massive time and energy from her elegant day.  In many instances, problems can be solved in a manner in which you, the bride, never even know that a problem has occurred.  We will work with your vendors for a satisfying outcome for part of the wedding.

Our ultimate goal is to be the filter on your wedding day, and we only want the good memories to pass through.

You don’t hire a wedding coordinator for the status of having one, or as someone who will pepper you with compliments all day long. You have a wedding coordinator to make sure that the complicated dance that is your wedding is a beautiful waltz – one that seems and feels effortless.

Katie & Dave’s Wedding

Saturday I got the honor of coordinating a wedding for a friend of a friend.  I first met Katie at one of Colleen’s parties.

Katie and Dave had their venue decorated in black, white and hot fushia!  The tables were black table cloths with white napkins and hot pink ties on the black chair covers.  The table cards reflected the couple’s love of the Beetles with all the tables being named after a Beetles song.

Katie & Dave were married at their home church in Broomfield.  Here are some snap shots I got on my camera of the day.

Here are the vendor details from the wedding:

Venue:  The Heritage at Todd Creek

Photography:  Justin Keltch Photography

Flowers:  Oakes Fields

Cupcakes:  A Cake Occasion

DJ:  DJ Maestro
